We never give up helping our children - Our Most Precious Resource
Main Body

Another great day, today! We started the morning off with French toast sticks, fresh peaches, mangos,
and bananas for breakfast @ 8:00AM. We then went to the classroom for boating safety for our catamaran
trip to the Reef. We went to the Reef, the 3rd largest coral reef in the world. We snorkeled there for about
an hour. The kids saw some really beautiful fish (they could tell you their names) and a turtle. When we got
there and were jumping off the boat, one of the girls looked at me and said, "Mrs. Stacks, I'm scared." But, she
jumped anyway!

We arrived back for lunch and then they went back swimming for some water games with Chris, one of the teachers.
They played a game identifying the different species they found. After the swim, we all came back to the classroom
to learn about sharks. Then the girls were able to dissect a real shark. They were willing to jump right in and touch everything.

Then they went on a scavenger hunt around island. The island is only 4 acres. It was a hot day today but the girls were troopers. I think they made it better than the chaperones. After this, they played in the water and had free time. We then went to watch our dinner being fileted. Kelly had caught Mahi Mahi (dolphin) and was willing to share! While he and Chris fileted the fish, they told us the history of the island.

We had free time while they prepared dinner. The girls knocked a coconut out of the tree, swung in the hammock, and played. I think I snoozed in the lounger in the breeze. We then had dinner of Mahi Mahi - grilled, blackened, fried and burgers and hot dogs. After dinner, the girls went to the museum for a scavenger hunt. They played kickball with Miss Grego and then we had dessert. Finally, it was time to clean-up, pack, shower and write in journals.

Today was an awesome day and I would recommend this island to any 5th grade class.

We head to Ft. Lauderdale tomorrow!
