We never give up helping our children - Our Most Precious Resource |
|---|
Taylor and Derrick competed in the Indian stick pull Sunday morning. We were caught off guard as they had changed the rules to the old rules which allowed pulling, twisting, and bending of the arm. They were able to watch a few people go first so they picked up on the technique quickly. Taylor lost her first match and won her next three. She needed to win one more match to make it in the finals, but after a tough match of back and forth she lost. Derrick went up against some tough competitors and lost his first two matches. He has learned a lot this year and has realized your first year is a lot of learning and watching others techniques. Cara and Dino participated in the one foot high kick after lunch. Cara was able to kick up to 70 inches. It was her first time competing in this event and did very well. Dino stayed in for quite awhile and got out at 88 inches. I believe this is his perosnal best. This was Dino's favorite event and made us very proud of his accomplishments. Taylor and James competed in the seal hop. Taylor struggled on the wooden floor with her shoes. She had a hard time bending her toes as her shoes kept sticking and she was not able to beat her personal best. James did very well. He set a goal before he started and he met that goal. He only tore up a few knuckles. We ended the day with dinner, a movie, and swimming with Jordyn and Ermogen. On Monday we attended AEIN Meetings. I was able to introduce each student to the group. We were all out of our comfort zone, but became very involved with listening to other schools success, intern presentations (our two interns did a nice job bragging about our district), eskimo dancing and presenting our poster about what great things our district is doing to increase student acheivement. Tomorrow morning I will finish up small group circle discussions while the kids will get a tour of the Engineering department with Michael Bourdukofsly. See you all on Wednesday! |
